Subject: I THINK THIS WEBSITE IS...... [Print This Page]

i think this website is great but i can't seem to download some cool games because it says i don't have some permission, however i did finally realize the problem... i'm a newbie

all this lead me to this question

since everything here is free.. why so many annoying restrictions? like you get it for free but yet you wanna give everyyyone else a hard time (i.e. non VIP member, etc.) or restrict them so they can't enjoy the same game you're enjoying.

what's the point?

and when you are trying to gain these ridiculous points, it's either too confusing or doesn't work... i really don't see the point to any of this.

I say get rid of all these "member groups" permissions and restrictions, it's a waste of time and just a pathetic way at giving people some authority or "respect" on the website.

thanks for reading.

When you register the forum, will have a direct access to 50 beans.

You have to download a higher authority and more to download using the beans are very easy through a variety of ways:

1. To share the experience in the use of blackberry, blackberry fans to help solve different problems;

2. Share your software, games, themes, ringtones, such as blackberry resources;

3. PROMOTE links you recommend to other blackberry users;

The above three methods, you will receive beans.

When you share the results of other people's labor at the same time, pay the little bit of time I feel more blackberry fans are in favor of this.

This is the most ridiculous system I have ever seen!! There's too many other free sites for me to bother with this revenue generation scam. Unreal that I just wasted 10 minutes trying to figure this crap site out --

ADVICE TO THE IDIOTS WHO MADE THIS SITE

MAKE A FAQ already - -- or just stop with this stupidity .... peace out - don't worry, I won't be back -- I'm not a loser who's gonna spend 3 hours a week patronizing this website - do you have to be a BB supergeek to quallify here? wow!

We have adopted the views expressed by users and has revised the forum corresponding to inappropriate policies. At the same time, we hope to receive more and better proposals.

i think people that upload new games should be rewarded with more than 2 beans. i'd have to share 250 games just to become VIP?

i have about 30 games which are not yet on this forum.. but that would only get me 60 beans. i still wouldnt even be close.

there has to be a better way!

I agree, this site seems really cool, but I'm just the quite silent type, I don't say much, but this beans stuff is stupid. I'm not wasting anymore of my time trying to figure this out. I had this site in my favorites, but I'm removing it. I won't be back.

Oh, your smiles are really cool to btw

I suggest for a better way too like rate the quality of uploads, or bonus beans of 2 or more per every download count of the files uploaded right?

You click on promote when you are logged in and you will see a link. You. An use this link in your email your website etc. If for example you use the promote link in an email you send and someone that receives that email clicks on the link they will be taken to this site. Now if they sign up you will get more beans for them signing up. The link just includes a number associated with your member so the system knows who to add beams to if someone signs up while using your promote link.

I love this website and I think its really cool what the folks here are doing.  I to think you should get more than 2 beans for sharing content, or maybe more beans if you take the time to hide it, just an idea.  Thankyou for everything.  :D

I agree with this wholeheartedly... I look at people that post free themes and themes that have previously been uploaded and I think, man... I'm uploading a brand new paid theme (13 so far) and getting the same amount of beans as they do... not that I'm against the posting of free themes... I just feel that paid themes should hold more weight. Which this would probably make the mods work a little more than usual to check the threads, but I think it should be something to consider. Also VIP status on this site to me seems to be something that it unattainable... Not that it will make me stray away from the site but it is something I think should be re-evaluated.

I agree with your statements, to a degree.  What I have a HUGE problem with in the themes section (of which I am a moderator), is hardly anyone includes screenshots with their uploads.  I find this distasteful and LAZY!  Who the hell wants to download a theme without being able to see it first?  I am going to be discussing this with the site ops soon - I don't think people should be rewarded with beans when they're too lazy to provide screenshots.  Some people claim they "cant"..  Well, that is crap because in the software section is a FREE application that lets you take snapshots of your BlackBerry screen.

Thanks for taking time to check out this thread.... I've made sure each one of my threads has at least one pic attached... if I missed one... I'll fix it... oh yeah if you guys need a new mod... lemme know... I'm on this site almost everyday checking for new uploads...

This is the first thread I've felt a desire to reply to with more than a thank you.
I have to agree 100% about the themes, i have never downloaded a theme for the exact reason that there are no screenshots, even 1 would give you a general idea, how hard is it with JL_cmdr?
The smileys could be toned down, they are just too large and animated for my taste.
+1 on the idea that people should be able to rate an upload and that should effect beans more than just uploading anything.

I have to agree 100% about the themes, i have never downloaded a theme for the exact reason that there are no screen ...

As a  moderator in the theme forum, I agree with you 100%!!!  I have posted a message called "Theme Uploading Guidelines" and I stated that uploaders should include a screenshot or several for each theme that they upload.  I have responded to individual uploaders in Private Messages asking them to add a screenshot to their upload post.  People have told me to "F*ck off!" and that I can't "make them" upload a screenshot...and unfortunately, this is true.  I do not have that power.  I do not ask people to upload a screenshot because I want to create more work for them...Its quick and easy.  Who in their right mind is going to download a theme if they don't know what it looks like?

Personally, I would like to see the site operators make this a rule.  You should be obligated to provide at least one screenshot of the main home screen of the theme.  If you don't, you should only receive ONE bean instead of two.  And for repeated abusers, I would stop providing beans completely for themes that don't have the screen capture(s).  For all I know, people may be uploading duplicate themes and there is no way to tell unless someone downloaded every single theme and tested them.  Of course, that is impossible to do for several reasons...

What really bothers me about this.  Wherever they originally downloaded the theme almost certainly has screenshots.  How hard is it to right-click and Save As... the screenshot(s)?  The people who do not provide screenshots are just being lazy and, in my opinion, greedy.

I wish I could help you, enrique.  Unfortunately, I do not have the power to enforce such a policy.  If enough people bring this to the attention of the site operators, perhaps a change will be made.  I'm sure 95% or more of the users would agree that it would make this awesome website even better!!!

Some themes are real nice as i hear from people.
This was how i was suggested to this site.
Author: glen5084    Time: 12-11-2009 05:09 AM

i think it set up for us to go get more people for the site but when i'm logged in and click on link above it says" you are not logged in" "and can not enter this page or whatever"

I have been on this site for hours at a time on somedays and it won't bring my
"logged in on site" numbers down or up . Think it just locks at a number and lets you think your gonna get somewhere but doesn't . and the bean thing  heck if you want people to seed your stuff and share make this site work with torrent files.   beans just seems like a way to get more traffic to the site .Which i see no way to do ?  which is also some kind of screwball thing   think this needs more planing on staffs part . Sure the games are good but what good are they if you can't share or make this place better?

Greetings,
Very seldom do I give an opinion on a website.

I have been an engineer for over 25 years and belong to communities ranging from Linux, Oracle, to 3rd generation coding. I am not quite sure how many communities / websites I am registered on. I can say this; it is many.

This is the first website that I have taken the time to post a criticism.

Bean Counter:

I think I understand the bean counter program put into place, though it seems a waste of valuable time and is superfluous at best. It is something that I personally would not engage in. If I happen to contribute, so be it. I cannot imagine even trying to keep track.

Control Panel Options:

I am sure there must be documentation on the following:

Credits Operation Log
Transfer & Exchange
Thread Payments Log
Thread Income Log
Log of rewards payment
Incomings

And let us not forget:

My Rewards
Reward Stats.
My Questions
My Answers
My Activities
Originated Acts.
Applying Acts

When I first saw the above in the CP, I took a second glance and shook my head. I find it very difficult that a site with as much potential as this one would complicate it beyond usability. Let us suppose for a minute that one would engage fully in this chaos. In doing so, the owners of this website should bestow a free BlackBerry upon them just for the time and effort it would take to be that fully involved.

I have seen marketing endeavors offering free laptops (and I mean legitimate), where the process was not as complicated.

Ads:

It also appears this website is a huge AD / Spam pit. I have never run across a website with so many ads and pop-ups. I should say a legitimate website. I would consider this a legitimate website.

I understand that you are attempting to generate revenue through Google ads and do not have a problem with that. I do have issue with the hidden ads and the forced pop-ups. This is deceitful at best and dishonest at worst. Why would a legitimate website feel the need to deceive their members into hidden ads and forced pop-ups? This is indicative of porno sites and removes all professionalism and credibility.

Has anyone who has anything to do with the management or development of this website, ever visit the CrackBerry or BlackBerry sites. And yes, that is a rhetorical question.

CrackBerry accomplishes the same thing you are trying to accomplish with this site, only with credibility and professionalism. Someone should be taking notes.

Forum Responses / Interaction:

I am very puzzled by the requirement for a member to have to first post to a thread prior to being able to download someone else’s contribution.

Is that not what being a member is all about? You end up with page after page of responses that contribute absolutely nothing to this community but “Thank you” just so they can download something.

You have completely missed the definition of what a forum was designed for.

Forums are for dialogue, interaction, contribution and the exchange of information and knowledge. This forum holds very little of any of that.

If a member likes a contribution, they will respond. I see little in the way of asking legitimate questions and the back and forth dialogue on a particular download or topic. Just as an example, look at this thread:

http://bbsgame.mobi/viewthread.p ... p;extra=&page=1

There are 26 pages and only about 1 page of legitimate questions of which most go unanswered. There should be more questions and answers. Not page after page of “Thank you.”

I sent someone to this site last night and was embarrassed by what they were going to have to put up with, just to check something out.

Summary:

In summary, this website has a lot of potential. However, with all of the above mentioned you will never be taken serious. I realize you have approximately 51000 members. However, they are not here to utilize your forum in the way it was meant to be. They are here to simply say thank you and download the contribution.

You need to rethink your business model and get back in the world of professional services. You will be taken a lot more seriously and your members will see you with credibility and not annoyance.

Sincerely,
Brian

I was thinking the same thing on a few issues myself. But after looking thru the site I find more then enuff stuff for my BBStorm At first I was like  . "How am I gonna do this" but after looking thru more of the site it has become more and more helpful to me for my phone. I'm very glad I took the time to look thru everything and try to find a way to make it work for me . It has been an uphill climb I must say but well worth the trip and reading. There are a ton of other sites that give info on BB phone and they also good but for themes apps and other things this place has it wrapped up in my book

Hi,

I also agree with Sapient. Especially when it comes to the thank you part. I have noticed that other sites use a "give thanx" box, that esentially does the same thing this site is trying to do , but in a much more efficent way. I would much rather see people ak questions , and maybe...just maybe get an answer for the question that they asked. Besides, i have noticed, that most responses aren't even thanking the OP, the more like garbage letters like oooooooo  or GKASDjBJdBL  , just to get the required amount of characters to be able to download a file.. This really pisses me off when i see this, but i have noticed that the moderators don't do a thing to discourage this.

Anywho, sorry for the grammer and punctionation mistakes, as i am writing this letter with my boss near by.

Suggestion - Why not open a new poll to see what the popular opinion is on this, and use that to bring it to the attention of the admins/owners/operators?

It seems to me that the mods here to not have sufficient powers or privileges to enforce the posting rules & guidelines?

This is an issue that is not however just affecting the themes section, as it seems to me that many of the games that are posted do not have any information included in the post depicting the details of the game, or perhaps more importantly compatibility information. I also feel that screenshots should be mandatory for the games section too. Although screenshots are not essential for games, they help to give an excellent indication as to whether the game is of the quality that the user is looking for.

I noted a game post that i was recently browsing had no game information or screenshots whatsoever, and had actually been posted by a moderator (who shall remain nameless!), and it goes without saying that people will follow the example set by the staff!

Obviously beenz are a valuable commodity here, so users will want to have as much information as possible about a download before using up any of their precious beenz.

I personally would fully support any decisions made with a view to enforcing the posting regulations by penalizing posters by hitting them where it hurts - ie in the bean-bag!! as this would only serve to improve the quality of the posts here.
